Social media is vital in today’s digital landscape and is an integral part of modern marketing strategies, playing a key role in brand visibility, customer engagement, and overall business growth. That’s why it’s essential for the NMSU brand to be properly represented across these channels.

Using the NMSU logo

Branding is crucial for social media logos. Overall, strong branding on social media helps you stand out, connect with your audience, and build a lasting presence. The most important branding element in your social media channel is to use the NMSU logo to represent your department or program.

You are free to use any color from the brand color palette as a background color except for Aggie Crimson, which is reserved for our main institutional social media channels.

However, keep in mind that if you choose to use your own color, you must confirm that there is sufficient contrast between the white or Aggie Crimson and the background color. The WebAIM Contrast Checker is a free tool for checking color contrast. Note that the NMSU logo must always appear in Aggie Crimson or white. You may not utilize any of the athletic marks, the university seal, the stationary mark, or the Classic Aggie as your social media logo identifier.

Other Symbols & Photography

If your department or program has its own symbol or logo, you can use that logo on your social channels. Your social media icon should not include the NMSU logo alongside the logo of your department or program.

If you have a logo set up or you have a co-branded logo, use the NMSU logo icon or a photo; as logo setups or co-branded logos cannot be used as your social media icon because of legibility at such a small size. Choosing imagery, such as a photo of your building, representing your department or program is another good option for social media.

The University Art Museum (UAM) uses their logo as their social media icon.

The Theater Arts department uses a combination of a photo and stylized text as their social media icon.
